A New York Times article has been circulating on facebook about the benefits of doing nothing. In Let Children Get Bored Again, Pamela Paul writes that "It's when you are bored that stories set in."
Today I read a thoughtful essay by the author of Your Name Is a Song, Jamilah Thompkins-Bigelow. She talks about the importance of daydreaming, allowing her mind to wander or, conversely, focus "on the small and specific... something seemingly inconsequential that a young person said but that I can’t forget."
Read about Jamilah's inspiration for Your Name Is a Song on Storystorm.
