Sticker on the book says "Perfect for Graduation." (Does anyone else find that sad?)

I find it sad that two great talents like Spinelli and Liau ended up with a picture book celebrating the amazing possibilities of a small white boy, as if the history of children's picture books wasn't already filled with them as a default character.
In fact, the format of this book specifically lends itself to featuring a different child on every page, but nope.

Color me disappointed.
Good point. I'm embarrassed to say that I didn't even consider the default setting.
